Sawston Parish Council

Welcome to Sawston Parish Council

Sawston Parish Council is the elected body that provides and looks after local amenities for the village, including sports and recreation grounds, pavilions, play areas, open spaces, allotments and the village cemetery. The full council meets twice every month, except August.

Civility & Respect (Adopted July 2025)

Would you like to be a Sawston Parish Councilor?

Today we have three vacancies to fill, and there has never been a better time to join us as we need to design and build a new sports/social pavilion at Lynton Way, consider how to make the High Street safer for all users, and look at making the whole village area a 20MPH zone. As well as helping on these specific issues, councillors are responsible for many aspects of village life including commenting on planning applications.

To apply to be a councillor at Sawston parish council, you must:

●     Be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, a qualifying EU citizen or an EU citizen with retained rights.

●     Be 18 years of age or older.

●     Meet at least one of the following three qualifications:

○     You are and will continue to be registered as a local government elector for the parish you wish to attend from the day of your nomination onwards.

○     You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises in the parish area during the 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of the election.

○     Your principal or only place of work during the 12 months before your nomination and the day of the election has been in the Sawston parish area.

More information is contained in the council co-option policy.

If you’re interested in being considered, please send details of your work experience and your strengths to Mrs Jo Keeler, Sawston Parish Council Clerk clerk@sawstonparishcouncil.gov.uk
